Best Whiskey for Beginners Under $50 to Drink Straight

Updated: Aug 24, 2022

You've come to the right place if you're looking for an excellent affordable whiskey to drink straight. A good whiskey does not have to cost an arm and a leg. While some of the more expensive whiskeys are produced by renowned distillers, the majority of the best whiskeys are produced at lower prices by distilleries. They're not as old, but they're just as tasty.

Ten High Sour Mash Bourbon is a classic American Whiskey, but it's the cheapest on this list. Unfortunately, despite its low price, this whiskey is of questionable quality. Some tasters think it's better than Kentucky Gentleman, but the price does not convince us. Nonetheless, at $50, this whiskey is a good buy, so you should have no trouble finding it.

Rebel Straight Bourbon Whiskey is another excellent whiskey to try. This is produced by one of New York's oldest distilleries, and its flavor is bold and robust. It has butterscotch, fruit, and vanilla notes. Despite its thick and dense mouthfeel, this whiskey has a complex flavor and a smooth finish. This is an excellent option if you like to mix it with ice.

A distillery with a good reputation for producing high-quality whiskey produces the best inexpensive whiskey to drink straight. If you're new to whiskey, a single-grain whiskey like Blue Corn is an excellent place to start. An all-star panel recently awarded the whiskey an 85 out of 100 ratings, retailing for less than $30 per 750ml bottle. It has a complex flavor with vanilla, peach, and a hint of oak.

Another inexpensive whiskey is Blanton's Bourbon. It has complex flavors and a luxurious mouthfeel. The taste is similar to butterscotch and caramel. The finish is smooth and slightly mentholated. It has a great finish and is also an excellent choice for those looking for a whiskey to sip on its own. It's also a good choice for beginners because it's made from a single barrel.

Buffalo Trace is one of the most well-known bourbon brands. It's simple to drink straight and reasonably priced. A bottle can even be found for less than $50 at a liquor store. It's an excellent choice for an Old Fashioned. It is a popular choice among whiskey drinkers due to its smooth flavor and low price. However, be cautious because some rarer bottles can fetch up to three times the asking price on the secondary market.

For those on a tight budget, Old Forester Green Label may be a good option. The bourbon is aged in reclaimed barrels and finishes sweet and oaky. It's a good buy, but don't expect it to be on the top shelf. Some reviewers, however, say it has the perfect balance of cinnamon and burnt sugar. It's also not overly sweet, so it goes well with cocktails.

Heaven Hill has its own distinct flavor as well. Even though it's an eight to twelve-year-old whiskey, it's surprisingly complex and well-balanced. This whiskey is ideal for an Old Fashioned or a Whiskey Sour, and it's also a great value. Check out the brands mentioned above if you're looking for a great affordable whiskey to drink straight. There are many excellent whiskeys available at reasonable prices.

Another popular choice is Maker's Mark. This whiskey is well-balanced and full-bodied enough to drink neat. While it lacks the spiciness of more expensive brands, it is surprisingly smooth and easy to drink. Its flavor isn't overly complex, but it has a nice balance and a great aroma and flavor. The flavor is also complex and lingers on the tongue.
